Igniting a Passion for Math and Problem Solving in Students
Celebrating over two decades of inspiring and nurturing young minds, our legacy is built on a foundation of educational innovation and success.
Since 2000
Dr. Natasa Sirotic and Dr. Klaus Hoechsmann founded Math Potentials in 2000, with the support of the Pacific Institute for the Mathematical Sciences. They saw that students were entering university inadequately prepared for the big jump between high school and university math, and set out to change this.

It was their extraordinary passion for math education, and desire to open students’ eyes to how meaningful and fulfilling mathematics can be, that made their first year, with just 30 students, such a success.

To date, they have effectively raised the level of mathematical knowledge and achievement of over 10,000 elementary and high school students, and with this boosting their curiosity, confidence, and enjoyment of the subject.

The programs offered at Math Potentials address the needs of students from Grades 4-12. The carefully curated curriculum, based on problem solving, geometry, and the big ideas of mathematics, coupled with expert instruction, meet the needs that young people have for their intellectual development (i.e. wanting to know, enjoying figuring out things, being curious about mathematical relationships).
“It’s not just about finding the answer, it’s also about developing the necessary reasoning skills to be able to justify the way in which the answer was found.“
