Summer Programs
Overview
Whether you're looking to get ahead, catch up, or simply explore new mathematical concepts, our summer programs provide the perfect opportunity to develop critical thinking skills, foster creativity, and make lasting connections with fellow young mathematicians. Join us this summer and discover the joy of mathematics in a fun and enriching setting!

Awaken the Mathemagician in You

Awaken the Mathemagician in You is a transformational course. You will be empowered with tools to shift your mindset and discover that you can learn anything. Students will have an opportunity to "click" into math, experiencing it not only as important, but also as interesting, meaningful and beautiful. This course will teach you how to open your mind to mathematics. It will show you how to think like a mathematician would. It will not be anything like you’ve ever experienced before.

This transformative course is designed for all Grade 4-6 students who wish to embark on a sustainable trajectory of success in their learning. This means becoming a self-directed, reflective learner who has the desire to understand and not just follow certain procedures.

Gateway Mathematics

This course is designed for students entering Grades 5 - 8 in September who have not attended Math Circles previously. It will also be beneficial to Math Circles students who have just completed Alpha or Beta but joined late in the year or simply feel they could use a review of the Singapore Math Bar Model.

In Gateway Mathematics students learn how to solve challenging, multi-step word problems with understanding and confidence by using a visual method known as the Singapore Math Bar Model.

Strategic Math

Separated into two age ranges, this program is designed for students entering Grades 4 - 12 in September. In these courses, children learn a series of clever techniques to do seemingly hard computations with ease and joy.

Problem Solving & Proofs

In the first part of this course, students will be exposed to a collection of intriguing and challenging mathematical problems. By completing the first 4 classes of this course students will be able to make connections between different parts of their mathematical universe and be able to take a more innovative approach to problem solving.
In the second part of the course, students will be introduced to some methods of mathematical proofs such as Mathematical Induction, Direct and Indirect Proofs, Proof by Contradiction.
This course is designed for:
  • New students that have finished Grade 8 Math.
  • Returning students that have graduated Gamma level or higher.

Problem Solving
& Proofs
Mathematical problem solving is a process which requires from students certain “qualities”, some of which are resilience and mental flexibility. These particular qualities can be developed through intense problem solving sessions.

"When I was in the high school what I did most in math classes was memorize formulas and do lots of calculations. I was blessed to find the Math Circles program. I loved the way of approaching the concepts, and I learned a lot from the materials along with my daughter. Thanks so much for providing such a wonderful program to our kids."
Gordon Hamilton
Math Educator
"Let us not equate mathematics and arithmetic; let us not equate applying algorithms and thinking. Math Circles explores mathematics that is worthy of the human intellect. It's not trying to make math easy, but celebrates the challenge of struggling with a tough problem."
Robert Huang
Graduate
"After graduating, I went to University of Waterloo and am studying Statistics. I think Math Circles helped me a lot, especially with regards to tackling a problem from multiple perspectives, which was a skill that I use a lot in both my academic work and professional work."

"Once again, Andrew had a wonderful year with Math Potentials. Thank you very much for all your hard work! Andrew has gone from being very intimidated by math to feeling quite confident(sometimes boastful ha ha) and comfortable with it. He got all As last report card, and was recommended to Grade 9 Math because he had finished Grade 8 by December, so in Grade 9, he will be taking Gr10 Math."
